Cruzin’ South Island, New Zealand

Cruzin’ South Island, New Zealand

Yo folks, it’s been a loooooot of driving ever since I’ve picked up my incredible camper van in Christchurch.  Usually renting a van is due to budget not really an option for me, however, for a shorter period of time selling & reselling would have been simply too time consuming, thus before coming over here to New Zealand, I spent a good week doing thorough research on the net on my options-2-rent-on hand 🙂

In the course of this research, I came across ‘Volkmar & Heike’ a German couple who has settled down in Christchurch many years ago.  Volkmar himself is a passionate ‘air captain’ (he had licenses to fly planes, baloons, paraglide .. anythiny up in the sky really) and also has established himself as kind-a-German-haven-abroad for travellers.  He helps with pretty much everything, if he can, trips, rental cars, tours, adventure, sports and so much more !!!  Check out one of his websites in English  or   German !

So anyway, I came across Volkmar searching the net.   Having already spoken to several of the big camer-van rental companies I had an insight into the options considering my budget….and if there’s only ONE thing that I can be sooooo stoked about than it’s hooking up with Volkmar, cause if I wouldn’t have found him on the net, my adventure would lack a considerable amount of comfort & space !!!  Yeah, the ‘big companies’ make their offers always look soooo good but when u look closer at the vehicles that they offer as well as all the ‘small print’ that comes with renting one of those, grrrrrr, I would have had a tough and very rough time curzin’ around the last paradise on Earth, that’s for sure.

Thanks to Volkmar Kitegabi tours now with THE SICKEST campervan  E V E R , yeah it’s a true house –  4 myself and all my toys :o)  –  a bit slow at times, but hey, no worries, rushing doesn’t match the kiwi-lifestyle anyway :o)   My sick-o-van also helps me saving $$$ as it’s a diesel, it has solar panels on the roof and when I don’t forget to fill up the tanks, even boasts a hot shower !!!

The only gadget that my mobile home has NOT got:   electricity 4 my laptop, yep, that would only work when I’m parked @ a ‘on site electricity’-spot on a campground but as I much rather prefer to sleep in the great outdoors, anywhere close to my beloved Ocean & Mother Nature, I can only recharge it very sporadically.  Also internet connection so far has turned out to be a mayor mission to be found, thus I have decided that I will be publishing an E-book about my trip at a later date, yeah 🙂 !!

Currently I’m @ Queenstown, the ‘crazy adventure capital’ of NZ, where Bungy Jumping has been invented.   Curious what this place has to offer, what’s funny, it looks like in Austria here 🙂  yeeeah, beautiful mountains and lakes, feelin at home !

Hope u guys r all good & catch u later,
Gabi
