A kitechick alone in Mexico (GER version)

Travelling back from Belize (Central America) by overland bus after some incredible training-weeks on a small island, towards Cancun, Mexico, where my plane to Europe was departing from, my 70kg kite quiver in the luggage compartment below me and my fellow Mexican passengers, I suddenly remembered an old friend of mine ‘Gustavo’, a really funny Mexican who I met many years ago in my first season in the World Tour during the PKRA World Cup in Cabarete, Dominican Republik….

Not knowing at all where in Mexico Gustavo was living or whether he was still kitesurfing and the seize-the-day-fun-loving-Mexican I used to know, perhaps he had moved to a smogged up city, living the fast life of a business man these days? When the bus stopped in the ancient town of Tulum, I decided to visit the Maya temples, check out the turquoise waters a n d write Gustavo an email. I stayed one night in a rather dodgy backpacker dormitory, checked my email inbox the next morning just before hopping onto the bus towards the airport again and found an email of my good old mate Gustavo ‘get your a$$ over there, I care for the rest’… that was the beginning of a super spontatnous, truly memorable time in Mexico.
